Guitar Repairs & Workshop
Andertons operate two dedicated workshop sites. The in-store workshop primarily serves shop customers and carries out major structural repairs, while the warehouse facility handles mainly QC and web sales. We also have trained staff available to offer advice and minor repairs in-store at weekends.
Our full time technicians have over 70 years combined experience in building, repairing and modifying stringed instruments, carrying out everything from restrings for complete novices to major rebuilds for some of the biggest names in the business.
Our techs are authorised repairers for Fender, Gibson and Taylor and regularly undertake warranty work for all other brands sold through the retail side of the business.
How Much Will It Cost?
It's recommended you contact us for an estimated cost for the job you're wanting us to carry out for you. However, our technicians will sometimes want to examine your instrument before giving a firm price if the repair job is more than just a normal setup. We will always contact you before carrying out any additional work we think is required.
Please remember to take the name of any members of staff you have talked to about your repair, and give us as much information as possible about the condition of your item. This will help us to complete your repair as fast as possible.
These example costs are based on our standard £60/hour labour rate and don't include parts. N.B. we need to examine your instrument and requirements before giving a final price.
Example Repair Costs
|Basic Service (Fixed Bridge)||£60|
|Basic Service (Traditional Tremolo)||£75|
|Basic Service (Floyd Rose)||£90|
|Single Pickup Installation||£60/hr + Parts|
Can I Bring My Instrument In For You To Re-String?
Unfortunately we do not offer a re-stringing service for instruments. All jobs will need to be booked in for repair with our technicians and charged at the usual hourly rate. Instruments can be restrung as part of a total setup service.
How Long Will It Take?
Both workshops are fully equipped so we have the flexibility to actively manage our workload and keep turnaround times to a minimum. We aim to complete most routine repairs within 14 days, with a longer turnaround time during busy periods. Repairs requiring model-specific parts may take longer depending on manufacturer’s lead times, and nitro-cellulose refinishes require several weeks drying time. You will be advised of any extended lead times on repairs.
How Do I Book My Instrument In?
You can book your guitar in by bringing it in to store where we can diagnose any issues you may have and note any special requirements you may have. One of our guitar specialists will help you book your guitar in for repair and we'll contact you as soon as it's done.
Do You Only Do Work On Guitars And Basses?
Our technicians have a lot of experience repairing guitars and basses, however they may be able to help if you have a different kind of stringed instrument. Please click here if you'd like to make an enquiry.
Do You Repair Amps, Keyboards or Other Items?
Unfortunately not, although if a product is under warranty, we can have it collected and sent off to a repair agent for you. If your item is no longer under warranty or bought from another store, we may be able to point you in the direction of somewhere that can help you out!
