Guitar Repairs & Workshop
Andertons operates two dedicated workshop sites. The in-store workshop primarily serves shop customers and performs major structural repairs, while the warehouse facility primarily handles QC and web sales. We also have trained staff available to offer advice and minor repairs in-store at weekends.
Our full-time technicians have over 70 years of combined experience in building, repairing, and modifying stringed instruments, handling everything from restrings for complete novices to major rebuilds for some of the biggest names in the business.
Our techs are authorised repairers for Fender, Gibson and Taylor and regularly undertake warranty work for all other brands sold through the retail side of the business.
We now offer PLEK services from our Guildford store. Please click here for more information.
How Much Will It Cost?
It's recommended that you contact us for an estimate of the cost of the job you want us to carry out. However, our technicians may want to examine your instrument before providing a firm price if the repair is more than a standard setup. We will always contact you before carrying out any additional work we think is required.
Please remember to take the names of any staff members you have spoken to about your repair, and give us as much information as possible about the condition of your item. This will help us to complete your repair as fast as possible.
These example costs are based on our standard £70/hour labour rate and don't include parts. N.B. We need to examine your instrument and requirements before giving a final price. Please note that any strings required for the repair must either be provided or charged at the standard retail price.

Can I Bring My Instrument In For You To Re-String?
Unfortunately, we do not offer a re-stringing service for instruments. All jobs will need to be booked in for repair with our technicians and charged at the usual hourly rate. Instruments can be restrung as part of a total setup service.
How Long Will It Take?
Both workshops are fully equipped, so we have the flexibility to actively manage our workload and keep turnaround times to a minimum. We aim to complete most routine repairs within 7-10 days, with longer turnaround times during busy periods. Repairs requiring model-specific parts may take longer due to the manufacturer’s lead times, and nitrocellulose refinishes require several weeks of drying time. You will be advised of any extended lead times on repairs.
How Do I Book My Instrument In?
You can book your guitar by bringing it to the store, where we can diagnose any issues and note any special requirements. One of our guitar specialists will help you book your guitar in for repair, and we'll contact you as soon as it's done.
Do You Only Work On Guitars And Basses?
Generally, yes, our technicians specialise in repairing guitars and basses. They do not perform repair jobs or setups on mandolins, banjos, etc. Please click here to enquire.
Do You Repair Amps, Keyboards or other items?
Unfortunately not, but if a product is under warranty, we can arrange for it to be collected and sent to a repair agent for you. If your item is no longer under warranty or was bought from another store, we may be able to point you to someone who can help you out!
